Feast Portland

Feast Portland, the Pacific Northwest's signature food and drink festival, will return September 13-16 with a new lineup of exclusive dinners, celebrity chefs and special events. First off, the big news: The Sandwich Invitational, a tentpole event that debuted with the first Feast in 2012, is no more. In its place, co-founders Carrie Welch, Mike Thelin and their team will launch a new opening-day competition with an "'80s vs. '90s" theme, pitting 20 chefs against one another in a battle of the decades with throwback music, outfits and plenty of food. "Everyone agreed it was time to retire the Sandwich Invitational," Thelin said. "Chefs weren't as excited, we definitely weren't, so we thought, 'Let's put our energy into something new.'" The signature food and drink festival, Feast Portland, one of the largest and best in the Pacific Northwest, will take place September 13-16 and will feature a variety of exclusive dinners and celebrity chefs. One of the biggest and hottest highlights of the festival is the Night Market. The main feature will be a Pacific Rim event which in my opinion, is incredibly cool and fitting to Portland's keep it weird motto that its denizens live and breath by. I think its interesting in my opinion that Portland is hosting such a large BBQ scene because that is typically a very Southern thing to do and partake in and not something I would think about if I was in Portland. I think its cool in my opinion that also the bikers will not be receiving a fine and will be able to have more autonomy in biking.

Oregon Zoo Is A Great Stop For The Family

The Oregon Zoo is a highlight of a trip to Portland, especially if you are visiting with kids. It helps that the public transit is great, so you can get there even if you don't have a car. The atmosphere is very parklike, with lots of beautiful trees and plantings. The zoo is especially famous for its elephant exhibits, and it's set up to be as much like a natural habitat as possible for a herd of elephants. Bears are another big specialty, including polar bears. And be sure not to miss the adorable penguins! They really seem to care about conservation and helping animals that are in the wild as well as protecting the ones in captivity.
